Garry’s Mod is by far, one of the biggest Steam exclusives on the market. The game was made with creative intentions in mind, allowing users to create pretty much anything, whether it modifies the way the game is played or simply changes the appearance of your character. Obviously, the biggest feature in this game would be the gamemodes that can be created by different players. This would turn out to be extremely successful, so much so that it started to get implemented into Roblox. Very much like the Murder and Murder Mystery games on Roblox, Assassin would draw inspiration from both Garry’s Mod, or more specifically the gamemode created on it called Murder and Counter-Strike. Both Steam games would become revolutionary in more communities than you’d expect.
The Assassin game is drawn from the ‘Assassin’ gamemode that has existed for long prior to the release of the Roblox game. Prisman, the developer of the Assassin game would clearly take inspiration from all the Murder games and Counter-Strike and make his own adaptation of it. The premise of the game is quite simple, you are equipped with a knife and selected a target that you must kill, without being detected. Sounds simple, right? Well, you are also getting hunted by other players in the game. You must play the role of a Detective and Murderer in this game and the winner is whoever is left still standing. Just like Murder Mystery 2, this game also has a trading system for knives that is overall taken from the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive game on Steam.
The game was created by prisman, a developer that is quite new to the Roblox development scene but has been one of the most successful. Despite him only creating the game in 2016, it has gained 115M+ visits, 210K+ likes, 539K+ favourites and continues to be one of the most popular and relevant games on Roblox. It is one of the fastest growing releases on Roblox of all time. Believe it or not, this is the first and only game that prisman has ever created, adding even more to his insane achievement.
To have a good look at the success of Assassin, you must look back to when it was originally created and what games were trending back then. Believe it or not, back when Assassin was created, Murder Mystery 2 hadn’t annihilated its competitor’s yet, infact, this was back when Murder and Mad Murderer were still relevant games. Unfortunately, Murder Mystery 2 would rise to the top and the other Murder games were lost to Roblox history. Somehow, Assassin would end up becoming the closest competitor to Murder Mystery 2 a year later!
That’s pretty much the history to Assassin, considering that it’s a new game, there isn’t much history to it.
Overall, I’d rate this game a decent 7/10 due to it being quite a fun and relevant game at the time of this being written. I personally enjoy the game quite a bit but I wouldn’t go as far as to listing it with the rest of my favourite games on Roblox. The game also isn’t very original, considering that the Assassin gamemode has been around for years.
I’d rate the game 7/10 in playability. It is updated frequently and continues to have the full-on support of the community. The game continues to get more and more popular and there’s plenty of content in it. Although saying that, I’m not going to rate it any higher than 7 because it’s very unlikely that the gamemode will ever change and so the content will always be the same.
There isn’t much else to say, it’s an all-round pretty good game but it does take a LOT of inspiration from many other games on Roblox and in other communities.
I hope you enjoyed this review and like always, I highly recommend checking out this game for yourself, you never know, you might like it more or less than I do.
Make sure to check out my other game reviews and if you enjoyed this one, you’ll probably like my review on Murder Mystery 2 considering how similar the two games are.
With all that out of the way, that’s the end of the review.
